# What's the Difference Between a Template and a Design?

## There are master templates and designs which are a version saved to a user's dashboard

A **template** refers to a master template available in a category.  All of your templates can be found in the left menu of your dashboard under their associated categories. Templates are accessible to all users or available to certain user groups, teams, or offices depending on the limitations set in each category. 

A **design** is the *edited, personal version* of the template that will be found on a user’s dashboard after customizing the design. Designs only live on the dashboard of the user that created it (or other users that the design has been shared with).
